Cooking

At Burton PRU, our cooking subject aims to equip students with essential life skills that extend far beyond the kitchen. We believe that cooking is a valuable tool for fostering independence, creativity, and confidence. Through our cooking curriculum, students learn to plan and prepare nutritious meals, understand the importance of a balanced diet, and develop practical skills that will serve them throughout their lives. We emphasize the importance of food safety and hygiene, ensuring that students are well-versed in best practices for handling and storing food.

Additionally, our cooking classes provide an excellent opportunity for students to explore different cultures and cuisines, broadening their horizons and fostering an appreciation for diversity. By working together in the kitchen, students also develop teamwork and communication skills, learning to collaborate effectively and support one another. At Burton PRU, we aim to create a positive and engaging learning environment where students can discover the joys of cooking and the many ways it can enhance their lives.
