Easter has arrived within the Art room – recycling unwanted egg trays we have made a colourful and vibrant wreath for the door – a welcome greeting to the room!!

You can see that we have merged different shapes with blended colours to give a fantastic effect!

We have an Easter Tree!!  Using branches from a tree on the grounds of the PRU we have sprayed them white, added blocks of contrasting colour and stuck on pom-poms, added with some ribbon and the HAPPY EASTER wording it adds to the room!

Who says Christmas trees are only for Christmas??  We have repurposed the dull white christmas tree (which was going to go to landfill) into a jazzy bunny Easter tree – though unfortunately the eggs cannot be eaten!

Staff and students alike have had an input into a collaborative art piece which will be on display within the PRU – using the theme of ‘Love within the PRU’ students and staff have created a tile which, combined together, has a fantastic effect!  There are some subject specific tiles, as well as creative and colourful tiles.  It is difficult to say which tiles were created by staff and which were created by students!  Can you guess which tiles are from subjects?  Which tiles were created by staff?  And can you see your tile?

A huge thank you goes to those who took the time to get creative, and a bonus goes to Mr Jackson from Science who created the interactive heart – next time you visit the PRU why not come see it!

Students have been working hard on their Arts Award pieces, with students near completion of the course completely!  There are 4 parts to the Arts Award, A) Create art as a participant, B) Enjoy art as an audience member, C) Arts inspiration (artist focus), D) Share skills with others.  Students have been visiting various art museums and galleries within the Derbyshire and Staffordshire area to gain inspiration for their work, as well as to consider methods and mediums used.  The work produced is so varied, different and inspired – it is amazing to see what the students have produced!  Well done everyone!

Students working on their GCSE Art coursework continue to push towards their exams, with their coursework now being completed and their ‘final’ pieces done, work continues on their exam piece preparations.  We have two main themes for the coursework, ‘Marine Life’ and ‘Face’.  We have the current issue of marine life and the impact of plastics being used, which is very topical at this moment in time:

With the theme of ‘Face’ we have a fantastic outfit created for a night out on the town, complete with papier mache bag, custom shoes and striking face paint:
