Other Curricular Areas

We have designed our acadmeic curriculum at KS3 and KS4 to offer as many courses as possible.  We are able to offer nationally recongised qualifications  – these include GCSEs in English, English Literature, Maths, (Literacy and Numeracy based Funcitonal Skills;) Science and Chemistry; Art and Arts Award etc with other exams in PE/Sport; Food Home Cooking; ASDAN etc.  Our staff can also deliever GCSE RE, Biology and Physics.  Some of these courses are studied at school and others are studied off site – if this is the case, Burton PRU will have undertaken Quality Assurance.

We have also designed our holistic nurture & child centred based curriculum – this is embedded from our Federation values of Trust, Care, Respect and Honesty into our ethos and culture at BPRU.  Our holistic curriculum is based on social inclusion, hearing the child’s voice; valuing them as part of our school family community, making strong connections and making/maintaining positive working relationships, putting well being and mental health at the forefront of what we do with our students – when they need it.  Our staff are trained in Emotion Coaching and Restorative Practice etc but model so many positive behaviours for our students to see how to change and react to different situations in positive ways.

We try our very best to offer as many courses as possible and ones that will lead to nationally recognised qualifications. This is dependent on the student’s interests! Some of these courses are studied at school and others are off site, where Burton PRU has undertaken Quality Assurance.
