IMI Level 1 Certificate in Cycle Maintenance and Repair
IMI Level 2 Certificate in Cycle Maintenance and Repair
Outline of Course
Level 1 contains four units of Basic Cycle Maintenance to be completed over 31 GLH’s and looks at the following subjects;
1 Remove and replace a cycle gear assembly
2 Carry out a systematic cycle check
3 Repair a cycle puncture
4 Remove and replace a cycle rim brake assembly
All units contain practical and classroom based work
Level 2 contains eleven units of Advanced Cycle Maintenance to be completed over 93 GLH’s and looks at the following subjects;
1 Three L1 units
2 Remove and replace cycle hub bearings
3 Remove and replace cycle bottom brackets and cranks
4 Remove and replace cycle gear systems
5 Build a cycle wheel
6 Prepare frames and forks for cycle assembly
7 Augment a cycle
8 Change a cycle frame
9 Service cycle headset assemblies
All units contain practical and classroom based work and an online exam except the L1 units where there is no online exam.
How it’s taught
All aspects of both L1 and L2 are taught as teacher demonstrated activities and work completed on laptops using the IMI e portfolio online hub.
